Metro MLS has posted the most recent Market Indicators report as well as the current Local Market Updates for selected Counties and Cities.
Home sales in the Milwaukee region in January were down compared to a year ago at 480 purchase agreements signed—a drop of 1.7 percent from last January. That's the second consecutive month with downward year-over-year change. January's median sales price of $174,900 was 9.3 percent higher than a year ago. Yes, rising prices are ordinarily a pretty ho-hum and normal thing, but in light of the drop in prices that most parts of the country have seen over the last several years, "ho-hum" is a welcome phrase these days. Whether this is a continuing trend or a small sample size abberation remains to be seen. The Months Supply of Inventory in the region has dropped to 8.7, down 10.6 percent from the mark of 9.7 seen a year ago.
